Mitzlaw von Gützkow (* mentioned 1128 ) was a Slavic prince in the area around Gützkow .

Life

Mitzlaw von Gützkow is mentioned by the chroniclers Otto von Bamberg in connection with his second mission trip to Pomerania in 1128. Ebo calls him “princeps” and “dux Mizlaus” (Book III, Chapter XII). Also Herbord called the prince of the city Gozgaugia Mizlaus (Book III, ch. 9).

Wolfger vonprüfung does not mention the name of the prince, but only writes: Bishop Otto “went on through the land of the Louticians and, when he had come to the province of Wnzlov after his trip, preached in its three most famous cities of Uznoim, Chozgov and Ologost “(Book III, Chapter 4). It is doubted whether Gützkow (Chozgov) and Wolgast (Ologost) actually belonged to terra Wanzlow .

In the records of the chroniclers of Bishop Otto, Prince Mitzlaw is the only one who was named as a participant in the meeting (Landtag?) In Usedom - with the exception of Duke Wartislaw. This proves its importance for the region. The Mitzlaws family must have been in high regard; There were family ties to the Rügen rulers in particular. According to the Pomeranian chronicler Kantzow, a sister of Mitzlaw von Gützkow is said to have been the wife of Prince Ratislaus von Rügen . Slavomira, wife Barnutas and ancestress of the Lords of Gristow to have been a daughter Mitzlaws II. Of Gützkow.

Sulislav, the progenitor of the von der Lancken family , is said to have been a descendant of Mitzlaw von Gützkow.
