Suzue Miuchi
Suzue Miuchi ( Japanese 美 内 す ず え , Miuchi Suzue ; born February 20, 1951 in Nishinomiya , Hyōgo ) is a Japanese manga artist .
Life
She grew up in Osaka and was already visiting a lending library in kindergarten to read manga by Osamu Tezuka . She began to draw herself when she was about ten years old. In 1967 she won the young talent award of the manga magazine Bessatsu Margaret for the short story Yama no Tsuki to Kodanuki to . The short manga was first published in October 1967, and other comics for Bessatsu Margaret followed. Both school romances and historical stories appeared from her pen, but especially her horror and mystery mangas had success in the mid-1970s.
The breakthrough for the illustrator came when she began her best-known work, Glass no Kamen , in Hana-to-Yume magazine in 1976 , which she only completed in 2004 after more than 7,000 pages. The 42 anthologies have sold around 50 million copies in Japan; This makes Glass no Kamen, after Yōko Kamios Hana Yori Dango, the most commercially successful shōjo manga. The manga, which was also made into an anime and live television series and was awarded the Japan Cartoonists Association Award for Miuchi in 1995 , is about a girl from a poor background whose greatest dream is to become an actress. The dream will eventually come true, but the road to get there is rocky.
The author won the Kodansha Manga Prize in 1982 for Yōkihi-den (German about "Tale of the Magical Demon Princess"). From 1986 to 1995 she drew her second longest work, Amaterasu, for the two magazines Asuka and Asuka Fantasy DX .
