Miyu Kato ( Japanese加藤 美 優, Katō Miyu ; born April 14, 1999 in Musashino , Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese table tennis player .

Career

The Japanese had her first appearances on the international stage at youth world championships. So she won silver with the team in 2012, 2013 and 2017. In the individual, she was able to achieve third place twice at the same event.

In 2014 she took part in the Youth Olympic Games and achieved 4th place in the individual. She won silver with the team. On the World Tour she had fewer appearances due to strong Japanese competition , but she was nominated twice by the Japanese Association for the World Championships in 2017 and 2019 , where she came close to medal ranks, but ultimately failed.

Activities in Germany

In the 2015/16 season, Miyu Kato and Yui Hamamoto were signed for the German Bundesliga club ttc berlin eastside . The two players played in the back pair of cross. In 2017 Miyu Kato left the Berlin club again.
