Modou Diagne Fada

Modou Diagne Fada (born February 3, 1969 in Darou Mousty, Kébémer department , Louga region ) is a Senegalese politician who was a minister several times.

Life

After attending school in 1987, Modou Diagne Fada began studying natural sciences at the Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar (UCAD), which he completed in 1992 with a master's degree (Maîtrise en sciences naturelles) . He then began postgraduate studies in animal biology to obtain the Diplôme d'études approfondies (DEA). During his studies he joined the Democratic Party of PDS ( Parti Démocratique Sénégalais ) as a member in 1992 and was general secretary of its student section. Between 1995 and 1997 he worked as an attaché in the cabinet office of Minister of State Abdoulaye Wade , the last time he was a member of the government of the national union. In 1997 he became general secretary of the Labor and Liberal Youth UJTL (Union des jeunesses travaillistes et libérales) . In 1998 he was first elected a member of the National Assembly (Assemblée nationale du Sénégal) on the list of the PDS .

After Abdoulaye Wade was elected president , Diagne Fada became minister of youth (Ministre de la Jeunesse) in the second cabinet of Prime Minister Moustapha Niasse in April 2000 . In the subsequent cabinet of Prime Minister Mame Madior Boye , he served as Minister for Youth, Environment and Public Hygiene (Ministre de la Jeunesse, de l'Environnement et de l'Hygiène Publique) between March 2001 and November 2002 . At the same time, in 2001 he became the spokesman for the Parti Démocratique Sénégalais. In the subsequent cabinet of Prime Minister Idrissa Seck , he became Minister for the Environment and Nature Conservation (Ministre de l'environnement et de la protection de la nature) in November 2002 and held this ministerial office from April 2004 to June 2007 from Prime Minister Macky's existing cabinet Sal .

In 2007 Modou Diagne Fada founded the WARWI movement within the PDS , which won two other seats in the National Assembly in the parliamentary elections in July 2007. In 2008 he became Third Vice President of the National Assembly. In April 2009 he was appointed Minister for Health and Prevention (Ministre de la santé et de la prévention) in the cabinet of Prime Minister Souleymane Ndéné Ndiaye and held this ministerial post until the end of his term in April 2012 . In July 2012 he was re-elected a member of the National Assembly on the PDS National List and then President of the Parliamentary Group of Liberals and Democrats. At the same time, he was elected a member of the council of the Kébémer department in the local elections in June 2014 , and has been its president ever since. As part of Operation Restoring Hope , the second phase of military intervention in Yemen started on April 22, 2015 by a military alliance led by Saudi Arabia , he said:

“Saudi Arabia is not threatened - nor are the holy places of Islam. There is nothing that can justify military intervention by Senegal ”.

On October 15, 2015 he was expelled from the PDS and founded his own party on May 7, 2016 with the democratic reformers LDR- "Yessal" (Les Démocrates réformateurs 'Yessal') . In the elections on July 30, 2017 , he was not re-elected as a member of the National Assembly.
