Moez Echargui ( Arabic معز الشرقي, DMG Muʿizz aš-Šarqī ; * January 10, 1993 in La Marsa ) is a Tunisian tennis player .

Career

Echargui already competed irregularly in 2009 in tournaments of the ITF Future Tour . In 2015 he was in his first double final, but in the world rankings he was outside the top 1000 in both singles and doubles. He made his debut for the Tunisian Davis Cup team in 2016 in the already decided game against Bulgaria , where he made his Game against Wasko Mladenow lost. A year later he was nominated again for the individual game against Cyprus , where he helped with a victory against Marcos Baghdatis that Tunisia remained in Group II.

In the same year he won his first single title on the Future Tour, and in doubles he also worked his way up through finals in the world rankings. With three more individual titles, Echargui improved to 339th place in 2018, his previous career high. He now also appeared occasionally in tournaments of the higher endowed Challenger Tour . There he achieved his greatest success to date in March 2019. In Yokohama he went to the side of his compatriot Skander Mansouri and won his first Challenger title. In the final they defeated the top seeded duo Max Purcell and Luke Saville in three tight sets . Two months later he reached his new career high in doubles with 362nd place.
