Wasko Mladenow (born July 30, 1989 in Sofia ) is a Bulgarian tennis player .

Career

Wasko Mladenow started playing tennis at the age of five. On the Junior Tour he already played around 100 matches with a positive balance in the individual. It achieved its best ranking in January 2006 with 190th place in the junior world rankings.

From this year he played for the first time regularly on the third-rate tour, the ITF Future Tour , with the professionals and was able to win his first match there. At the end of the year he was placed in the tennis world rankings in both singles and doubles . While he never made it past a quarter-finals in singles, he was in his first future final in doubles in 2007. By the end of 2008 he won five future titles there and in 2009 he achieved his best world ranking position with 420th place. In addition, he was in the main draw of a challenger in doubles for the first time and reached the quarter-finals in his hometown Sofia . In 2009 he began studying at the Texas A & M University in the subject sociology . After two years, he moved to St. John's University in New York City . During his studies, Mladenow also played college tennis and won the Big 12 Men's Tennis Championships in 2010 with his team . In 2014 the Bulgarian returned to the professional tour. There he reached his first two individual Future Finals in 2015. He achieved his best individual placement in 2016 with 637th place. In 2017, he played his first challenger in singles in Ho Chi Minh City . In doubles he won a total of eleven futures by 2018 and reached a new career high with rank 359.

In 2018, Mladenow made his premiere on the ATP World Tour in Sofia thanks to a wildcard . Here he and his doubles partner Dimitar Kusmanow lost straight to Scott Lipsky and Divij Sharan .

In addition, from 2016 he will play for the Bulgarian Davis Cup team , for which he has a positive score of 5: 2.
