Armament

The Mogador class was a ship class of two large destroyers ( French Contre-Torpilleurs) of the French Navy (French Marine nationale française) in World War II . It was the successor to the Le Fantasque class and the last major destroyer to be built in France. Both ships of the class sank in the self- sinking of the Vichy fleet .

Machine system

The Mogador class propulsion system consisted of four Indret boilers and two Rateau Bretagne SR geared turbines. These drove the two screws via two drive shafts. The machines performed 92,000 WPS . This should achieve a top speed of 39 knots (around 72 km / h). The Mogador reached 43.45 kn (around 80.47 km / h) in a test drive and was able to maintain its speed for an hour.

Armament

The main artillery of the Mogador class consisted of eight 13.8 cm L / 50 cannons of the 1934 model in twin turrets. This cannon could fire five to nine rounds per minute. As anti-aircraft armament, the Mogador class had two 3.7-cm anti-aircraft guns of the 1933 model in stand-alone installation and four 13-mm anti-aircraft guns as twin guns. As torpedo armament, the destroyers had eight torpedo tubes (two groups of three and two groups of two) for the 23DT Toulon torpedo . For anti-submarine defense, the Mogador- class had two depth charges at the stern with a total of 32 depth charges. There were also rails for 40 mines at the stern.
