Mogoeng Mogoeng
Mogoeng Thomas Reetsang Mogoeng (born January 14, 1961 in Zeerust ) is a South African lawyer and since 2011 presiding judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of South Africa .
Life
The study of law concluded Mogoeng 1983 at the University of Zululand with a Bachelor of Laws from. After studying for a year, he was awarded another bachelor's degree by the University of Durban in 1985 . In March 1986 he took a job as a prosecutor at the Supreme Court of the Province of North West , the North West High Court , on, a position he held until February 1990 before he (the German comparable practical training as a lawyer legal training ) in Johannesburg graduated. In 1989 he completed a master's degree at the University of South Africa . He was also a member of the Industrial Court of South Africa . In 1992, Mogoeng lectured on criminal and criminal procedural law at the University of KwaZulu-Natal for a year . Between 1994 and 1997 Mogoeng was a board member of numerous South African companies, including MetLife South Africa, and state-owned companies . He also worked for the South African Electoral Commission . In 1997 he became a judge of the Supreme Court of the Province of North West called the North West High Court. In 2000 he moved to the Labor Appeal Court of South Africa , before returning to the North West High Court as presiding judge two years later. He held this position until 2009. Then he was appointed judge at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of South Africa. On September 8, 2011, Jacob Zuma appointed him to succeed Sandile Ngcobo as presiding judge of the Constitutional Court. His appointment met with criticism both nationally and internationally. Mogoeng himself attributed this criticism to his active involvement in the Christian Winner's Chapel , where he works as a lay preacher .
