Mohammad Ghareeb ( Arabic محمد الغريب; * July 22, 1980 in Kuwait City ) is a Kuwaiti tennis player .

Career

Ghareeb plays mainly on the ITF Future Tour and the ATP Challenger Tour in his career . On the Future Tour he won a total of 15 singles and doubles titles. He was most successful in doubles in 2007, when he won three future titles as well as two titles on the Challenger Tour. With Johan Brunström , he won the titles in Tolyatti and Tampere . In 2008 he also achieved his highest place in the world rankings in doubles with place 264; in the individual, this was 336th in 2006.

In 2003 he made his first appearance on the ATP World Tour in Dubai through a wildcard . In doubles he lost in the first round on the side of Omar Awadhy against Donald Johnson and Jared Palmer . In the following years he was given a wildcard and took part in the tournaments in Dubai and Doha , but only won one match in 2011. It's the same in singles, where he could only win once in 2006. He beat Omar Awadhy before losing to Roger Federer in the round of 16 .

He was far more successful in the Davis Cup , where he played for Kuwait in 1997 at the age of 17 . Since then he has had a record of 65:29. This makes him the record player in his country in all categories - from most single and double victories, to most participations, to most of the years he has played for his. In 2014 he was awarded the Davis Cup Commitment Award .
