Mohammad Jafar Salmasi (born September 22, 1918 in Tehran ; † January 31, 2000 there ; Persian محمد جعفر سلماسی) Was an Iranian weightlifter and participants in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London .
At the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, he won the bronze medal in his weight class (60 kg) and set a new Olympic record in the tear category with 100 kg. Mohammad Jafar Salmasi won the gold medal in this discipline at the Asian Games in 1951, which took place in New Delhi .
In 2000, the Iranian athlete, who won the first medal of an Iranian athlete at the Summer Olympics, died in Tehran at the age of 81.
