The Molnia Bluff is a 1750 m high and steep top cliff in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Clare Range , it extends in a west-east orientation for a length of 1.5 km at the southeast end of Parker Mesa . Only 400 m of its total height are visible.
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 2005 after the geologist Bruce Franklin Molnia from the United States Geological Survey , who among other things carried out seismic studies in the Southern Ocean and its Antarctic seas between 1965 and 1966 on board the USNS Eltanin and later held a leading position of the National Academy of Sciences .
