history

The Gründerzeit villa with elements of Art Nouveau was built shortly after 1900 by the textile manufacturer Eduard Gebhard (1836–1923). Due to dynastic weddings, it was later also known as Frowein's Villa. In 1961 the architect and gallery owner couple Rolf and Anneliese Jahresling moved into the villa , who used an architecture office and a private apartment there in addition to the Parnass gallery . The landlord was then Mayor Heinz Frowein , who lived in the house next door. With its spacious rooms from the basement to the attic, the villa was the location for the first pre- Fluxus events in Germany. On January 24, 1985, the villa, including the enclosure, was entered as an architectural monument in the list of monuments of the city of Wuppertal.
