Molybdenum (IV) bromide is an inorganic chemical compound of molybdenum from the group of bromides .

Extraction and presentation

Molybdenum (IV) bromide can be obtained by reacting molybdenum (III) bromide with bromine .

The representation by bromination of molybdenum hexacarbonyl is also possible .

properties

Molybdenum (IV) bromide is a black, crystalline solid that is extremely sensitive to oxidation and hydrolysis . It is sparingly soluble in bromine. When heated in a vacuum, from 110 ° C it decomposes into molybdenum (III) bromide and bromine.
