The Monarchist Party of the Russian Federation is the only legal monarchist party in Russia since the October 1917 Revolution . It was founded by the Russian politician Anton Bakov and registered with the Russian Ministry of Justice in 2012 . At the beginning of 2013, the party had 45 branches and thus fulfills the requirements for participating in the regional elections. The founding meeting of the party took place on April 7, 2012. At that time the party had about 1,000 members.
The official seat of the party is in the settlement of Kosulino, near Yekaterinburg , the place where the last Russian tsar Nicholas II and his family were executed .
Bakov's Monarchist Party is committed to establishing a constitutional monarchy in Russia. Furthermore, the promotion of monarchist ideas among the Russians is the task of the party. The candidate for the post of tsar could be one of the many descendants of the Romanov dynasty living abroad.
On February 1, 2013, the party held a monarchist congress in Paris , at which the representatives of the various monarchist currents in Russia gathered to discuss further developments.
