The Monberg is an artificial hill in the middle of the industrial park of Monheim am Rhein east of the Rhine promenade. It is about a 25 meter high, greened contaminated site . It is also the highest point in Monheim.

During the renovation of the former site of the Royal Dutch Shell refinery, which was built during the First World War and closed down at the end of 1987 , from 2003 to 2004 rubble, soils with a high mineral oil hydrocarbon content and the soil masses of the filter earth landfill were encapsulated in a security structure that is now Monberg in Forms a truncated pyramid.

In 2007 a viewing platform was opened on the heap, which can be reached via a staircase with 106 steps. Event catering for private investors has been located on the Halde since 2007.

In 2016, a € 1.2 million pedestrian bridge to Monberg was under discussion. After the planned construction costs had increased to 1.9 million euros, the construction of the branch bridge was rejected by a majority in the council in 2018. Monheim's mayor Daniel Zimmermann is planning an inclined elevator for 14 people in 2019 for improved barrier-free access to the mountain for 1.5 million euros in construction costs and operating costs of 45,000 euros per year. In the city ​​council , the faction of the Greens suggested that the tenant share in the costs, and the SPD faction would like to have the dump removed in order to create more space for the industrial park.
