The Monet was laid down as a passenger ship under the name Yushar at Georgi Dimitrov in Varna in September 1969 and commissioned for Northern Shipping in 1970 . In 1997 she was converted into a cruise ship with a capacity for 56 passengers and renamed the Stella Dalmatiae . The new owner was the cruise operator Dalmatija Cruise Line , who used the ship for Mediterranean cruises.

In 1998, the Dalmatija Cruise Line renamed the ship Monet . It stayed in service for another three years before being bought by Elegant Cruises in 2001. For the next eight years, the Monet was used for cruises on the Croatian coast . In 2009 the shipping company ceased operations and the Monet was taken out of service in Split together with Andrea, who also belongs to Elegant Cruises . The Andrea has been used again as a cruise ship under the name Serenissima since April 2013 , while the Monet is still moored in Split.
