Monika Balt born Bauer (born March 12, 1951 in Großräschen ) is a German politician ( PDS ).

Life

Monika Balt graduated from the polytechnic high school in Luckau in 1967 after the 10th grade . This was followed from 1967 to 1970 by training as a pediatric nurse at the Cottbus Medical School . In 1976/77 she completed part-time qualifications at the District Academy of Healthcare with a qualification as a specialist nurse for neurology / psychiatry and from 1981 to 1983 as a welfare worker. In 1994 she passed the state-approved social worker exam.

From 1970 to 1981 she worked as a pediatric nurse at the Cottbus District Hospital and from 1981 to 1987 as a welfare worker in the Cottbus outpatient health service. From 1987 to 1989 he was employed by the SED district management in Cottbus-Stadt, responsible for health care . After the fall of the Wall (GDR) she was a social worker until 1998 .

In addition to her work, she was a member of the FDGB from 1967 to 1989 and a member of the Unemployment Association Germany since 1990 . V. and since 1990 honorary chairwoman of the Brandenburg State Association. Since 1991 she has been a member of the union trade, banks and insurance companies and Ver.di .

She is non-denominational and has two children.

politics

Monika Balt was a member of the SED from 1980 to 1989 and left the successor party PDS in 1990 . It has been non-party ever since. From May to October 1990 she was a city councilor for the PDS parliamentary group in Cottbus.

She was elected to the Bundestag in 1998 as a non-party via the open list of the PDS and was a member of this until 2002. It was elected via the Brandenburg state list.
