Monika Burri

Monika Burri (* 1970 in Aarau ) is a Swiss historian , journalist and author .

Live and act

Monika Burri completed the Matura type B in 1990 at the old canton school in Aarau . From 1991 she studied general history and philosophy at the University of Zurich and finished her studies with a thesis on mountain railway construction, tourism industry and civil enjoyment of nature at the end of the 19th century. The Vitznau-Rigi-Bahn as a prototype of the tourist rack railway.

From 1998 to 2011 she was a research assistant at the professorship for the history of technology at ETH Zurich . In 2011 she started the Bodywear study . The history of jersey clothing 1850-2000 doctorate . Burri was a research assistant in archive, research and communication projects at the Aargau State Archives (2011–2015) and then at the Lucerne School of Art and Design (until 2019).

From 1998 she published numerous articles and reviews as a freelance journalist for the Zürcher Tages-Anzeiger and the NZZ am Sonntag, among others, and works as an author and editor, in particular on the focus on cultural, technical and corporate history.
