Monika Walerowicz

Monika Walerowicz (* 1971 in Bydgoszcz ) is a Polish opera, oratorio, lied and concert singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Walerowicz studied viola , acting and singing at the local music academy in her hometown . She completed her singing and acting training in 1997 with distinction. Subsequently, Monika Walerowicz taught singing at her training facility, where she also received her doctorate in 2001.

She made her operatic debut in 1999 at the State Opera in Łódź as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth . This was followed by appearances on the music stages in Warsaw , Stettin , Porto , Linz and Kassel, among others . From the 2004/05 season Walerowicz was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Kassel . Later she continued to appear there as a guest. She has been a member of the Hanover State Opera ensemble since the 2009/10 season . Furthermore, she performed previously at Theater Lübeck , at the State Theater Karlsruhe , Kiel Opera House , the Oldenburg State Theater , the Theater Trier , the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden and Nuremberg .

Her repertoire of roles includes: Hansel ( Hansel and Gretel ), composer ( Ariadne auf Naxos ), Isabella ( The Italian in Algiers ), Laura ( La Gioconda ), the title role in Carmen , Princess Eboli ( Don Carlos ), Donna Elvira ( Don Giovanni ), Cherubino ( The Marriage of Figaro ) and Muse / Niklaus ( Hoffmann's stories ).

Monika Walerowicz's concert repertoire ranges from early baroque to sacred works to modern times.

She is multiple winner of national and international singing competitions. She was z. B. Finalist in Siena, won 1st prize at the Warsaw Moniuszko International Competition, the Paderewski Grand Prix in Bydgoszcz and 1st prize at the Ada Sari Competition in Nowy Sącz .
