Monitor Audio is a British manufacturer of loudspeaker boxes that has become known for its gold-colored metal tweeters and its own designs in the low-midrange.
history
Monitor Audio was founded in 1972 by Mo Iqbal in Cambridge and gradually moved to Rayleigh, Essex towards the end of the 20th century . At times they also had other hi-fi products, e.g. B. a record player , in the program. Today manufactures and to develop and iPod - docking stations and DAB -Radios as a supplement. Monitor Audio is present in over 70 countries today.
Monitor Audio develops and produces all chassis that are used in-house and was the first to use loudspeakers with metal diaphragms or mixed metal diaphragms (sandwich construction) in the home hi-fi sector. Metal diaphragms of the kind that Ted Jordan had launched in the early 1960s were previously used more than broadband speakers in public address engineering .
Monitor Audio was succeeded in 1997 through a management buy-out and is owned by British private individuals. Monitor Audio in Germany was part of Monitor Audio Ltd. until 2009. This was followed by the management buy-out of the German headquarters in Willich under the sales name MAD 2013 and the move to Heiligenhaus near Düsseldorf . In April 2016, the German sales department switched to taurus High-End from Hamburg, until there was another sales changeover to Pannes Vertriebs KG from Bad Segeberg in July 2018.
Awards
Monitor Audio loudspeakers have won numerous international and national awards, including:
- In 2006 the High-End Award from Audio (magazine) and the High End Society in the Home Theater - Value for money category was presented in Munich.
- In 2009–2010, the radius HD set received the EISA award in the HT Loudspeaker category in Berlin.
- In 2013 Monitor Audio received a red dot design award for the design of the MASS series .
