Monk's Lode is the name of an at least partially man-made canal in the English county of Cambridgeshire , which is one of the Cambridgeshire Lodes . It connects the place Wicken over the Wicken Lode and the Reach Lode with the River Cam and with the New River .

course

The Monk's Lode emerges a little southeast of Wicken , in the north of the Wicken Fens from the New River . It flows in a flat curve to the right to the west before it joins the Wicken Lode in the northern part of the Wicken Fens .

On its course, the Monk's Lode flows through the Wicken Fen and takes on several drainage channels.

history

The origin of the Monk's Lodes probably goes back to Roman times . Unlike the Wicken Lode , the Monk's Lode only played a very subordinate role as a trade route.

Today the Monk's Lode is no longer accessible by boat.
