The 16-year-old Akira Nikaidō 16 堂 昶 goes to high school, but does not think much of learning and often skips. Nevertheless, he is one of the best students. One day a young man named Shirogane 白銀 introduces himself to him , with whom he is connected by fate. Akira does not believe this at first, but soon afterwards he and Aya Suzuno 鈴 野 綾 , a friend of his, are attacked by a mysterious being at night. Shirogane defends them and explains to Akira that they have to fight these shadow monsters together, since the balance between the world of humans and that of the shadows is disturbed. Akira must now again and again become a shin , a shadow, and fight to restore balance.

The manga by Kaili Sorano started in May 2004 in the manga magazine Comic Blade Masamune published by Mag Garden . After the magazine was discontinued on June 15, 2007, the manga switched to the new Comic Blade Avarus magazine in September 2007 , also from Mag Garden. In May 2011 it was announced that the manga will end on June 15, 2011 in issue 7/2011.

The individual chapters have also appeared in ten anthologies so far . Tokyopop published the first four volumes in English between January and December 2008. A Chinese version has been published by Chuang Yi and since November 2010 a French version has been published by Kabuto éditions .

Adaptations

Anime

The studio ACGT produced under the direction of Yū Kō in 2008 an anime - television series for the manga, while Shōnen-ai elements were brought into the plot . The character design was created by Shigeyuki Suga and Satoru Kuwabara took over the artistic direction. The series was broadcast from April 7 to September 29, 2008 by TV Tokyo in Japan. It was later broadcast by TV Osaka and AT-X .

The 24 episodes of the series were published by Shochiku between August 8, 2008 and March 13, 2009 on eight DVDs with three episodes each.
