The Candlestick Park was an American football - and baseball - stadium in the US city of San Francisco , California .

history

The stadium was the home of the American football team of the NFL's San Francisco 49ers from 1971 to 2013 . Originally it was used as venue for the baseball team San Francisco Giants of MLB built up to 1999, fought out their home games here from 1960th In 2000, attracted Giants in for 357 million dollars built AT & T Park has to offer. The Oakland Raiders NFL team also used the stadium for the 1961 season . From 2004 to 2008, the stadium was known as Monster Park due to the sale of naming rights to Monster Cable Products . After these expired in 2008, the original name was used again.

After the 2013 NFL season , the 49ers moved to the new Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara . The stadium was closed on August 14, 2014. The demolition of the 49ers home was carried out from February 4 to September 24, 2015. A shopping center and apartments will be built in its place .

Trivia

On August 29, 1966, the Beatles gave their last concert in Candlestick Park. After the concert, they never appeared again in front of a large audience. The last concert at Candlestick Park was given by soloist Paul McCartney on August 14, 2014.
