The Monte Cristo Peak is a mountain in the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness in the State of Washington . Together with Columbia Peak and Kyes Peak , it forms a basin that contains the Columbia Glacier and Blanca Lake . The 1918 edition of The Mountaineer called the mountain "a vast mass of red rock."
Monte Cristo is named after the mining boom town of Monte Cristo , which was located on the north-western flank of the mountain at the end of the 19th / beginning of the 20th century. The town belonged to JD Rockefeller for several years. It was made accessible by the tracks of a freight tram .
