Monzinger Halenberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Halenberg is a Riesling - vineyard location on the Nahe .

This is the smallest Monzingen location, of which the Emrich-Schönleber winery holds the lion's share with 4 hectares . It is planted 100% with the Riesling grape variety .

Protected from cold fall winds , the steep slope lies in warm, rising air currents. The soil consists of a conglomerate of blue slate , quartzite and pebbles, the Wadern layers. It hardly contains any loam , is easy to warm up and tends to be dry in summer, which leads to small-berry, aromatic grapes. Under these circumstances, noble rot only sets in at high ripeness , much later than with plump grapes . The noble sweet wines are therefore also characterized by particularly clear, fine fruit notes.

The Halenberg is a first location of the VDP .
