Moody is a city in McLennan County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is located in the middle east of Texas, at the junction of Highway 317 with Farm Road 107 and has a total area of 2.2 km² without any significant water surface.
history
The place was founded in 1881, when the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway moved its tracks from Temple to Fort Worth . It was named after William Lewis Moody , a director of the same railway company.
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 1,400 people lived here in 529 households and 369 families. The population density was 635.9 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 82.71% White, 8.79% African American, 0.36% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, and 6.57% other ethnic groups. About 1.43% were of mixed race and 14.93% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 529 households, 33.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 54.4% of these were married couples living together. 12.9% were single mothers and 30.2% were non-families. 27.4% of all households were single households and there were people living in 16.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.14.
27.2% of the population were under 18 years old, 8.6% 18 to 24, 25.8% 25 to 44, 20.5% 45 to 64, and 17.9% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 85.9 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 80.4 men.
