Moon Zappa

Moon Unit Zappa (born September 28, 1967 in New York City ) is an American actress and musician .

Life

Moon Zappa was born as the eldest child of businesswoman Gail Zappa and rock musician Frank Zappa . She has three younger siblings, Dweezil , Ahmet and Diva . She married guitarist and drummer Paul Doucette in June 2002. She has one child, Mathilda Plum Doucette, who was born in 2004. In January 2012, Zappa announced that she had filed for divorce; this became legally valid in April 2014.

Works

Zappa became famous in 1982 at the age of 14 when she contributed lyrics to Frank Zappa's play Valley Girl . In the song, Moon Unit Zappa speaks a monologue in Valspeak , a youth language from the San Fernando Valley , Los Angeles . Along with Dancin 'Fool , Valley Girl was Frank Zappa's most successful piece in the United States . The piece appeared on the 1982 album Ship Arriving Too Late to Save a Drowning Witch .

As an adult, Zappa worked as a stand-up comedian, wrote for magazines, and starred in the films National Lampoon's European Vacation (1985), The Spirit of '76 (1990), and the television sitcom Normal Life . She also made a guest appearance as a Muslim woman on an episode of Get It Out, Larry! , and as Ted's cousin Stacy in an episode How I Met Your Mother .

Zappa is the author of the novel America, the Beautiful , which appeared in 2001.
