description

Stem section

Moore's horsetail grows as an only partially evergreen , perennial herbaceous plant and reaches heights of up to 80 centimeters. The pale green stem is mostly unbranched or only branched in the upper area and. The teeth of the leaf sheaths fall off more or less early. From similar species, Moore's horsetail differs micromorphologically by the presence of incrustations in the form of transverse ribs below and dots above. Under the light microscope, Moore's horsetail can be easily distinguished from its parent species by collodion prints . Sporangia are rare.

Occurrence

Moore's horsetail is a subcontinental, Eurasian flora element . Moore's horsetail occurs only sporadically in Central Europe .

Moor's horsetail forms loose to moderately dense herds in light, moderately dry (to moderately fresh) lime-rich, basic, nutrient-poor, often sandy to sandy-gravelly sites, as well as on embankments and embankments and in fallow semi- arid grasslands .

Moore's horsetail is widespread in the Upper Rhine Plain; it is seldom found on the Upper Rhine and in the Lake Constance area . There he is a character species of the Querceto-Ulmetum from the Alno-Ulmion association.
