Morchella meiliensis is a hose fungus ( Ascomycota ) from the family of morel relatives (Morchellaceae).

features

Macroscopic features

Morchella meiliensis forms hollow, 6 to 8.5 cm large, hollow fruiting bodies divided into cap and stem (complex apothecien ), with the cap and stem firmly fused together. The conical hat is 3.5 to 4.8 by 1.2 to 2 cm. The few ribs run vertically and are black-brown to black. The fruit layer is located in the pits between the ribs . This is merulioid (wrinkled-pitted), the cream-colored to yellowish pits are irregularly square or rectangular. The trama is thin and firm when drying. The smell and taste are not pronounced. The cylindrical stem is 2.3 to 3.5 by 0.8 to 2 cm in size, white when fresh, and becomes waxy yellow when dry. It is granular in the upper part and grooved at the base.

Microscopic features

The fruit layer is 8 to 15 micrometers thick, translucent and pale. The cylindrical, circular at the apex, hyaline hoses measure 5.18 to 5.87 to 91.16 to 94.44 micro meter . You always have eight spurs . These are elliptical, smooth, thin-walled, translucent and with oil droplets. They measure 4.67 to 5.1 by 5.2 to 5.66 microns. As they germinate, they swell and become darker. The spore print is cream-colored. The paraphyses are club-shaped, dark, and measure 4.19 to 5.2 by 40.09 to 65.01 micrometers.

ecology

Morchella meiliensis grows on the ground in deciduous or mixed forest.

distribution

When Morchella meiliensis was first described, the Meili Xue Shan mountain range in the Dêqên district in the Yunnan province between 2800 and 3500 m was given as the distribution area.

Systematics and taxonomy

Morchella meiliensis was first described by Shu H.Li , YCZhao , HMChai and MHZhong in 2006. It is related to Morchella angusticeps and the pointed morel . The pitted, wrinkled fruit layer, the lighter ribs and the clubbed paraphyses distinguish Morchella meiliensis from these species.
