Mord im Midsommer (Original Title: Morden i Sandhamn ) is a Swedish - German - Norwegian crime series based on novels and scripts by the Swedish writer Viveca Sten , which began in 2010. The author comes from Stockholm , but lives temporarily in Sandhamn , which is why her crime novels are set there. The film was shot on the original location in Sandhamn and at the police headquarters in Stockholm.

Six seasons have been released so far, another season has been announced for 2020.

action

The crime series is set in Sandhamn , which is located on the outer archipelago island of Sandön, east of Stockholm . The divorced inspector Thomas Andreasson solves criminal cases with the help of his former schoolmate Nora Linde. Nora's marriage to Henrik is in turmoil because of Henrik's jealousy and because Nora and Thomas get closer in the course of the series.

Seasons 1 to 5

The first five seasons were first broadcast on Swedish television from 2010 to 2015 in 3 episodes of 45 minutes each. The seasons were dubbed in German, however, as five, approx. 105-minute long feature films for the first time on ZDFneo ; Arte only broadcast the seasons in German a few months later in their original episode form.

Season 6

The series was originally supposed to end after the 5th season, but a 6th season appeared in Sweden in 2018. This now consists of four 90-minute films, of which ZDF, which was involved in the production, showed the first two in German even before the first Swedish release.

The first two parts, which are based on Viveca Sten's books Tödliche Nachbarschaft (I maktens skugga) and Mörderisches Ufer (I sanningens namn) , were shot between August 2016 and October 2016. The last two films for which Viveca Sten wrote the scripts were recorded in May and June 2017.

criticism

On the occasion of the German premiere of seasons 4 and 5 in 2016, Oliver Junge didn’t let the series go by in the FAZ : The films were reminiscent of "some of the advertising videos of the tourism association". “The criminal case doesn't crackle. The tired script hardly sets the wrong track, in the end the bad guys confess. Although the actors outplay all of them […], even the characters seem bored with the crime story. "

In 2013 and 2014 there was one nomination in the category Best TV Drama for the Swedish TV award Kristallen .
