Morgan Smyth (born February 10, 1986 in Northampton ) is a former American cross-country skier .

Morgan Smyth lives in Vernon and started for the Northern Michigan University sports team , the Northern Michigan Wildcats . She has been taking part in international cross-country races at the Continental Cup and FIS races since March 2002. Her first use was at an FIS race over 5 kilometers in Grafton , which she finished eighth in the top ten. In 2004 she took part for the first time in national championships in Rumford and the Junior World Championships in Stryn , with the latter 37th in the mass start race over 15 kilometers and tenth with the US cross-country relay. At the Junior World Championships in 2005 in Rovaniemi , she was 34th in the sprint, 44th in the pursuit race over 2 × 5 kilometers and 53rd in the freestyle race over five kilometers. She then took part in the national championships in Soldier Hollow . Things went better at the Junior World Championships 2006 in Kranj , where Smyth finished seventh in the sprint, while she was only 40th in the classic technique over five kilometers. It was not until 2008 that the cross-country skier was able to achieve her first good result at the US championships in Bozeman with fifth place over 5 kilometers. Even over 30 kilometers, she came in tenth place in the top ten in Callaghan Valley . At the end of 2008, Smyth achieved her first podium finish in a race of the Nor-Am Cup in Vernon as the runner-up in a sprint . The 2009 US championships brought back a top ten result with seventh place in the sprint and the first medal with second place over five kilometers in classic style. Only a little later, Smyth made his debut in Vancouver in a sprint race in the cross-country skiing world cup and won his first world cup points as 25th. At the next race she was with Caitlin Compton 17 in a team sprint. In 2009 , the professional athlete took part in a Nordic World Ski Championships for the first time in Liberec . There she won the pre-qualification for the 5-kilometer race, which was held for the first time at a World Cup, and thus qualified for the main race, in which she finished 51st. In the sprint, she was 52. At the US championships in 2011, she was runner-up over ten kilometers in the classic technique and third in the sprint.

In 2016, Smyth was inducted into her university's Hall of Fame for Sports.
