Moritz Katzenstein (born August 14, 1872 in Rotenburg an der Fulda , † March 23, 1932 in Berlin ) was a German surgeon.

Katzenstein was associate professor at the University of Berlin from 1913 and director of the II surgical department at the Friedrichshain Municipal Hospital from 1920 .

He developed new surgical methods, for example refixation, which was carried out for the first time in Germany on February 7, 1900, the reattachment of a torn meniscus. The Katzenstein method for testing the function of the heart is named after him.

Moritz Katzenstein died in Berlin in 1932 at the age of 59. His grave is in the state-owned cemetery Heerstraße in Berlin-Westend (grave location: 5-B-1a).
