Moroculia
Morokulien is the name of a six hectare site on both sides of the state border between Sweden and Norway , about 111 kilometers east of Oslo and 427 kilometers west of Stockholm . The site belongs on the one hand to the Norwegian municipality of Eidskog in the province ( Fylke ) Innlandet and on the other hand to the Swedish municipality of Eda in the province ( Län ) Värmland . In 1914 a granite monument was erected here on the occasion of the 100 years of peace between the two countries , which symbolizes their unity and friendship. Since then, this small area has also been called the Peace Square . In Morokulien there are campsites, an information center, an amateur radio station , an open-air theater, a chapel ( bell tower in Norway - the rest of the building in Sweden) and other curiosities such as B. a post office that sells stamps from both countries and also postmarks them in both. Every summer a church service and other celebrations take place here.
The term Morokulien is a Svorsk - suitcase word created in 1959 and is derived from the Norwegian word moro and the Swedish word kul , which both mean "fun".
Moroculia is neither an independent dwarf state nor a micronation . It is subject to Swedish and Norwegian laws . The activities there are organized by peace associations in both countries.
Morokulien is one of the Peace Parks , as it is a park that extends across national borders.
The amateur radio station is unique. Usually radio amateurs or clubs are given a call sign for the respective country by the authorities. In Morukulien two callsigns are used alternately for the same station, the Swedish (SJ9WL) and the Norwegian (LG5LG). Radio amateurs from all over the world are allowed to use the hut for a small fee upon presentation of their license certificate.
