action
The film Morscholz does not tell a story, but describes a state, the state of unfulfilled relationships in a family, the struggle for love and life itself.
One of the protagonists is Bernd (Uwe Keller), who almost despairs because of his inner helplessness. Fainted, he watches as his family slips away from him. His wife Fabienne (Mélanie Fouché) can no longer bear him.
Since Bernd is unable to face his problems, alcohol is often the only way out. The deaf and mute pinball machine (Dominik Ridder) is no less his victim.
Bernd's sister Gertrud (Hiltrud Lichthardt) works with Flipper in a beverage store. From time to time, Flipper comes to her house. Since Gertrud lives alone and is lonely, she tries to carefully approach Flipper.
Nephew Dirk (Laurens Walter) cannot stand the boredom of the village and shows Michel (Matthias Piro), the son of Fabienne and Bernd, the best way to kill wasps.
The situation escalates during one of the nocturnal pointless binge drinking in the party basement: Dirk goes crazy and threatens Bernd with a gun.

reception
“Of all the nominees, it was the most idiosyncratic, weirdest and most courageous film. It's angular and very impressive. "
“The German province has never been so strange, bizarre and at the same time so honest and close as in Müller's exciting first film. A narrative tightrope act between loving documentation and narrative cinema that gets under your skin. "
"Probably the most controversial competition entry."
"Hard-hitting drama."
"The somewhat different kind of home video demonstrated artistic style will and provoked."
"Looks like the Saarland variant of Harmony Korines Gummo , a compelling portrait of post-proletarian sentiments."
