Moshe Peled ( Hebrew משה פלד* April 2, 1945 in Kibbutz Beit HaShita ) is a former Israeli politician.

Life

He did his military service with the armored forces ( Hebrew חֵיל שִׁרְיוֹן) and ended his career with the rank of colonel. In 1992 he became a member of the Knesset for the first time for the right-wing Tzomet . He was re-elected to the joint list of Likud , Gescher and Tzomet in the 1996 elections and became Deputy Minister of Education in Benjamin Netanyahu's government . After the death of Education Minister Zebulon Hammer on January 20, 1998, Peled suspended his post as deputy for a week until January 28 and then resumed it. On November 2, 1998, he resigned for good and was replaced by Elieser Sandberg (also Tzomet).

On March 4, 1999, Peled left the Tzomet and formed his own one-man faction, Mechora ( Hebrew מכורה, in German: Heimatland), which joined the nationalist Moledet on the same day . In the next Knesset elections on May 17, 1999, Moledet was part of the National Union , a list of the nationalist parties of Israel. There Peled was in eighth place and lost his Knesset seat as the list only got four seats.
