Moses Witbooi (1876)

Kido Moses Witbooi , actually |Gâbeb !A-ǁîmab (* 1807 /1808 in Pella , Cape Colony , now South Africa ; † 22. February 1888 in Gibeon , now Namibia ) was from 1885 until his death Kaptein of Witbooi ( |Khowesin ).

Moses was the son of the chief Kido Witbooi ( ǂA-ǁêib ) and father of Hendrik Witbooi ( ǃNanseb ǀGabemab ). He was sentenced to death in tribal feuds for treason and shot by his own brother-in-law Paul Visser , who then declared himself a captain of the Witbooi and captain of Greater Namaland in the Hornkranz settlement . But Hendrik Witbooi avenged his father, killed Visser on July 12, 1888 and made himself the new captain.
