The Moscow House of Photography ( Russian Московский дом фотографии ) is a Moscow municipal art museum founded in 1996 , which houses a large collection of historical and contemporary photographic works of art, organizes exhibitions, including international works, and festivals related to photography. Together with the Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow (MAMM) and the Alexander Rodchenko School for Photography and Multimedia, it forms the Moscow multimedia complex of contemporary art on an exhibition area of ​​around 9,000 square meters .

The collection contains Russian masterpieces of artistic photography , including works by Alexander Rodchenko , Alexander Grinberg (1885–1979), Max Penson (1893–1959) and Dmitri Baltermants (1912–1990) as well as Juri Jeremin and Anatoly Jegorow.

The photo archive holds over 80,000 prints and negatives of all techniques, from the earliest daguerreotypes from the mid-19th century to ferrotypes and ambrotypes to the latest digital techniques. In addition to the works of the aforementioned artists, it also contains the works of photographers such as Maxim Dmitriev , Piotr Pavlov , Carl Oswald Bulla and Wiktor Bulla , Moses Nappelbaum , Arkady Sheikhet , Boris Ignatowitsch , Ivan Shagin , Evgeny Chaldei , Vsevolod Tarasewitsch and many others.

The museum also supports a number of contemporary artists who incorporate photography into their art such as Alexander Slyusarev , Sergei Borissow, Vladimir Kupriyanov , Igor Muchin and others.

location

The museum is located southwest of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the Kropotkinskaya metro station on the corner of Ostoshenka Street (Russian: ул. Остоженка, д. 16) and Lopukhinsky Street. It is open every day except Monday from noon to 9 p.m.
