Igor Wladimirowitsch Muchin ( Russian Игорь Владимирович Мухин ; born November 19, 1961 in Moscow in the Soviet Union ) is a Russian photographer.

Life

After high school, Muchin worked in a Soviet planning institute. In 1985 and 1986 he attended classes with the well-known Moscow photographer Alexander Lapin . In the following years he worked as a photographer with well-known Soviet rock musicians of the perestroika era , such as Viktor Zoi , Boris Grebenchtschikow and Pyotr Mamonow .

In 1987 Muchin had his first solo exhibition at Lomonosov University in Moscow. He has been a freelance photographer since 1989. In the mid-1990s he was working on documentaries about the city of Moscow and the provinces of Russia. In 1996 he followed a call as a guest speaker at the international festival InterFoto in Moscow. In 1999, as part of the preparations for the turn of the millennium, he was able to complete a photo series about lovers in Paris with a grant from the Mayor of Paris .

Muchin mainly works with black and white films and uses, for example, a Leica M6 . In addition to his monographs, his work has been published in magazines and newspapers at home and abroad, such as B. Rolling Stone , Geo , Elle , Vogue , Le Monde , Liberation , Esquire and Time .
