The Mosley-Thompson Cirques are striking and steep-walled mountain basins in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . They are located in the western part of the Colwell massif .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1994 after the glaciologist Ellen Mosley-Thompson (* 1952) from Ohio State University , who from 1974 was involved in investigations of ice cores from Antarctica and who also worked on the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station , the Siple- Station and the plateau station .
