from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Moss is an action-adventure - video game of the US game developer Polyarc that on February 27, 2018 first exclusively for the PlayStation 4 was released and the ownership of virtual reality headsets of PlayStation VR requires. A port for Windows followed on June 6, 2018 , which supports the virtual reality devices Oculus Rift and HTC Vive . A port for the standalone headset Oculus Quest appeared when it went on sale on May 21, 2019 and contained an exclusive new chapter "Twilight Garden", which was only released for the other platforms five weeks later.

action

At the beginning, the player sits in a huge library in front of a book of fairy tales with the title Moss . While he is leafing through the book, a narrator begins to tell the fantastic story of the budding mouse warrior Quill. She dreams of leaving her small village to do great things. After a brief introduction, the player is drawn into the book and helps Quill in her fight against the evil Sarffog snake, who, along with the underworld army of the mysterious, threaten the home of the mice.

Gameplay

Moss is an action adventure in which the player not only moves the figure of Quill, but also acts in a double role with the game world itself. Parallel to the direct control of the mouse, the movements of the controller in the room are recognized in order to recognize the position of the hands. In the form of a blue glowing energy ball, the player can open doors, flip switches or move blocks directly as a silent ghost, in order to enable, for example, to cross a seemingly insurmountable trench.

Even during the fights against the different opponents that Quill attacks with a sword, the player can also actively intervene in the action, for example heal the mouse warrior or hold opponents so that they are easier to defeat by Quill. In addition to the action elements, there are also numerous jump 'n' run and puzzle elements that are limited to simple puzzles at the beginning, but become increasingly complex as the game progresses. In these passages, too, the player is required to work together with Quill in a team, for example to steer the lady mouse onto a platform and operate a lever there, while the player himself operates cables at another point on the screen to control the Activate the platform and enable Quill to progress.

“Conclusion:» Moss completely enchanted me! After finishing the first book, which ends the adventure of the brave Quill after a few hours, I just didn't want to take off the Playstation VR headset. Like a child who doesn't want to sleep after reading aloud, I turned the story back a few pages to relive some of the most beautiful moments .. «“

“Conclusion:» Lovingly designed puzzle platformer in VR. With detailed graphics and exciting puzzles, unfortunately a bit short overall. «"

“Conclusion:» Moss managed to win me over very quickly. Be it the principle of the game, in which I am initially gently introduced to the individual mechanics, be it the sweet little heroine. ""
