The Moto Morini Granpasso 1200 is a motorcycle from the Italian vehicle manufacturer Moto Morini . The travel enduro was presented at the EICMA  2007 and will be final assembled in Bologna . Sales started in May 2008 at a base price of EUR 12,990. The retail name Granpasso means Great Pass .

construction

The liquid-cooled V-engine developed by Franco Lambertini comes from the Corsaro Avio, but the gentler version from the roadster “Nove e mezzo” (9½) with smaller valves and tamer camshafts was chosen. The short-stroke four- stroke engine generates a nominal output of 87 kW (118 HP) from a displacement of 1187 cm³ at a speed of 7750 rpm. The maximum torque of 104 Newton meters is achieved at a speed of 7000 rpm. Compared to the undisguised Corsaro Avio, the shape of the combustion chamber has been modified to reduce fuel consumption. The transversely mounted V-engine has a cylinder angle of 87 degrees and two inlet and outlet valves per cylinder. Both the gearbox and the crankshaft can be removed from the side of the engine block. The motorcycle accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 228 km / h.

landing gear

The tubular steel frame is manufactured by Verlicchi, the engine is a load-bearing element. The steering head has an angle of 63.5 degrees, the caster is 110 mm. The rear wheel is guided by a two-arm swing arm made of aluminum, which is suspended by an Öhlins central spring strut. The multi-plate oil bath clutch is operated hydraulically. The vehicle weighs 210 kg dry and the maximum payload is 166 kg.

reception

“The engine depends very directly, but never sneakily on the gas, the vibrations are moderate up to around 5000 rpm, but from 6000 rpm they hit your feet and hands quite violently. The transmission shifts perfectly, but the clutch demands the forearm. "

- Daniel Riesen : Moto Sport Switzerland

“It's a big bike. With my 1.93 meters length, I can barely reach the ground with both soles of my feet. In front of me I have the 27 liter tank, below me the pistons that have been redesigned to reduce fuel consumption. The very low weight of 210 kg (without petrol) and the smoothly responsive engine make the Granpasso an easily manageable vehicle, which is also helped by the considerable steering angle. "

- Roland Brown : Motorbike

“A face like number five , the robot from the 80s hit movie, and the Granpasso is actually number five in the Moto Morini model range. […] The two reasons that speak against a Moto Morini Granpasso: It has no ABS, and its payload of 166 kilos is not just for a travel enduro, but generally a bad joke. This means that security fanatics and traveling teams of two are already out of the running. "

- Christoph Driesen : Touring driver

“With its short wheelbase and immense power, the Morini likes to raise its beaks in the direction of the clouds when accelerating. Anyone who ponders how such a rear-heavy motorcycle with an abundance of torque can still build up the vital grip on the front wheel in solo operation ... Lean, then accelerate out of the serpentine, a bump - at the latest then the cold horror comes. "

- Michael Kutschke : Motorbike
