Motorjesus (or: Engine Jupp ) is a German hard rock - band from Mönchengladbach , which was founded in 1990 under the name "The Shitheadz".
history
From 1997 to 2003 three demo recordings were released before the first studio album was released in 2004. Due to censorship in some countries, this had to be released under the name "XHeadz", whereupon the group renamed itself in 2006 to "Motorjesus". The new band name comes from the track of the same name on the first album. In the same year the second album was released under the new name.
In May 2008 three band members left Motorjesus mainly for reasons of time. In their search for new musicians, the two remaining members met three members of the band The Fyredogs , who were also affected by restructuring, and who joined Motorjesus. The band existed in this constellation from summer 2008 to March 2009. In 2009, the separation of the three new musicians was announced.
Since the end of 2010, the band has been playing in their long-standing line-up again, with the exception of bassist Mark Neschen, who was replaced by Roman Jasiczak on bass. So guitarist Guido Reuss was the only remaining founding member.
In December 2010, the album Wheels of Purgatory was released, and the band subsequently performed at numerous concerts. In 2011 they recorded the song Of Wolf and Man by Metallica for a special edition of Metal Hammer as a tribute to the 20th anniversary of the release of the Metallica album ("The Black Album") . The CD with cover versions of all pieces on the album, interpreted by various bands, was published in a special issue in August 2011.
The new album was supposed to be released in 2012, this had to be postponed due to health problems of the singer. In February 2014 the band released their fourth album Electric Revelation , with which they entered the German charts for the first time .
In July 2016, Guido Reuss and Roman Jasiczak left the band. From 2016 to 2018 Christof Leim from The New Black played guitar in live shows. Meanwhile concerts are mostly played with Patrick Wassenberg and Dominik Kwasny from the cover band of singer Chris Birx.
The album Race to Resurrection was released in 2018, making it the first album the band recorded with just three members. It reached number 42 in the German charts.
