The Motorola Moto X Play (own spelling moto x PLAY , code name: "lux") is a smartphone from the Motorola Moto X series (third generation), in addition to the Moto X Style. It was designed and produced by Motorola . The device was announced on July 28, 2015 and was released on August 18, 2015. The device was released internationally, in the United States as the Droid Maxx 2.

Display
The smartphone has a 5.5-inch IPS screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels (" Full HD "). This results in a point density of 401 ppi. The ratio of the screen to the overall size of the device is 74.4%.
processor
The Moto X Play is equipped with a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm eight-core processor Snapdragon 615, 2 GB RAM, 16 or 32 GB memory and a Qualcomm Adreno 405 GPU . It has Category 4 LTE and NFC . The smartphone also has a microSDXC card slot with which the memory can be expanded by up to 128 GB.

battery pack
The Moto X Play has a 3630 mAH lithium polymer battery . Although the back is removable, it is permanently installed. According to Motorola, one battery charge is enough for two days of mixed use. Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 is also supported.
software
The device was delivered with Android 5.1.1 "Lollipop" , Android version 6.0 "Marshmallow" had been available since the beginning of 2016, and Android 6.0.1 at the end of March.
The Android system was taken over by Motorola almost unchanged, the equipment was only supplemented by its own camera app, the Moto app and the Motorola help app.
At the end of September 2015, Motorola published the source code of the Moto X Play kernel. This gives users the option of adapting the components of the operating system to suit their own requirements.

According to Computer Bild magazine , the Moto X Play had the brightest of all smartphone screens in January 2016 at 828 cd / m².
