The motorsport arena Stefan Bellof is a permanent outdoor go- kart track . It is located in the Buseck valley , on the outskirts of the village of Oppenrod in the central Hessian community of Buseck within sight of the A5 between the Gießen-Ost and Reiskirchen exits. The track is owned by the Kart-Verein Oppenrod e. V. in ADAC . It is named after the automobile racing driver Stefan Bellof , who died in an accident in 1985 and was a member of KV Oppenrod.

The route was built in 1967 with a length of 360 meters and consisted of three left and one right curve. At that time, a maximum of 13 starters were allowed. On July 18, 1972, the track was extended to 666 meters, so that 20 drivers were now allowed. On May 24, 1985 the railway was officially put into operation in its current form.

The route has a length of 1029 m and is driven counterclockwise, with seven right and nine left turns. In wet conditions, the right curve, which leads slightly downwards after the finish line, can also be perceived as a curve. A maximum of 34 starters are allowed per race. Races take place regularly in the motorsport arena.

The kart track is one of around 30 kart tracks in Germany that are approved by the German Motor Sport Association . The race track is equipped with a permanent timing system. There are facilities for spectators and a large paddock with the appropriate infrastructure on the site .

In the 1980s, races for the European Kart Championship were held regularly in the motorsport arena. Later Formula 1 world champions such as Michael Schumacher and Mika Häkkinen also took part. Many other Formula 1 drivers have also completed races in the Stefan Bellof Motorsport Arena.

Currently, there are regular races for the DMV regional championship north, DMV federal championship, the WAKC regional championship and the German Team Championship , also known as  GTC  .

Since 1986, the “Stefan Bellof Cup” has been one of the most coveted individual prizes in German karting every year. As the most famous winner, Ralf Schumacher entered the list of winners in 1990 .
