Moudania ( Greek Μουδανιά ( n. Pl. ); Pronounced Moudaniá ; official name Dimotiki Enotita Moudanión Δημοτική Ενότητα Μουδανιών) is a municipality in the municipality of Nea Propondida in the west of the Chalkidiki peninsula in the Greek region of Central Macedonia . It was formed in 1997 as an independent municipality on the occasion of the Greek local government reform of the Kapodistrias program from the previously independent municipalities Nea Moudania , Nea Potidea , Agios Mamas, Dionysiou, Flogita, Simandra and Portaria. With the exception of the municipality of Nea Moudania, which had already existed previously as a township (dimos) and the town of the same name , all other municipalities were rural communities ( kinotita κοινότητα).
