Mount Byrd is a 810 m high mountain in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . It looms in the Ford Ranges one mile north of the eastern end of Asman Ridge in the Sarnoff Mountains .
Participants in the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941) mapped it. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1970 by Richard E. Byrd Jr. (1920-1988), the son of the American polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd , who in assignments a large number of names of his father to geographic features in Antarctica helped .
