Mount Cis is a 184 m high hill , which is located around 2 km northeast of Cape Barne on the west side of the Antarctic Ross Island .
Participants in the Nimrod Expedition (1907-1909), led by the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton, discovered and mapped it. It is named at the suggestion of the geologist Raymond Priestley , a participant in the expedition, after one of the sled dogs that were brought along as draft animals on the research trip.
