Mount Curl is a 2300 m high mountain in the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises 6 km east-northeast of Gatlin Peak immediately northeast of the Welch Mountains .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it in 1974. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1976 after the American glaciologist James E. Curl, who was part of the United States Antarctic Research Program in three campaigns between 1971 and 1974 on the southern Shetland Islands was operating.
