The Mount Deception is a 3605 m high mountain in the Alaska Range in Alaska (USA).
geography
The mountain is located in Denali National Park about 26 km east-northeast of Denali . Mount Deception lies between the two higher mountains Mount Mather (6.21 km northeast) and Mount Silverthrone (8.54 km southwest). The southwest flank is drained by the Eldridge Glacier , the northeast flank by Brooks Glacier .
history
On September 18, 1944, a type C-47 military aircraft crashed in the area. A search expedition consisting of Bradford Washburn , Elmo G. Fenn, James E. Gale and Richard O. Manuel then climbed Mount Deception over the southwest ridge on November 13, 1944 and gave the mountain its current name.
