The Mount Despair is a rugged mountain in the north of North Cascades National Park in the US state of Washington . To the northeast of Mount Despair is the Picket Range .
The name of the mountain comes from Lage Wernstedt from the US Forest Service , which mapped the region in the 1920s. The name first appeared on the Forest Service maps in 1931.
